Chapter 129-I Will Wait For Your Explanation

“Elder Zhao, I will leave the aftermath matters to you.” Mu Ru Yue yawned. She had just rushed back from a month’s journey, only to be summoned into the palace. As such, she didn’t have the chance to rest up properly. Since this matter was settled, she should return to the Mu residence.

Suddenly, she lifted her head to look calmly at the man with that divine appearance, but didn’t say anything. When Ye Wu Chen received the gaze she shot over, his heart tightened. A trace of panic flashed past his handsome face.

He was truly scared, scared that she would distance herself from him from now on and ignore him her entire life.

His fear escalated in his heart, so much so that he couldn’t bear to walk before Mu Ru Yue. Instead, he lifted his hand to hold that young girl’s shoulder. When his fingers were about to touch her, he placed his hand down. His eyes were filled with confusion and panic. He seemed to be at a loss on how to begin explaining everything to her.

Tell her that it wasn’t by choice?

But a deceit was a deceit. No matter how many excuses he came up with, he couldn’t change that fact.

Silence played between those two. After a while, the young girl’s calm voice was heard by him, “I will wait for you to come and explain.”

Upon saying that, Mu Ru Yue turned around and walked out of the palace.

When her white clothing disappeared from his sight, Ye Wu Chen’s wound up heart gradually relaxed. A charming smile was displayed on his handsome face. It was great that she didn’t ignore him and gave him an opportunity to explain….

This night was like water as the evening wind blew.

Mu Ru Yue stood before the window. The night wind brushed past her hair, gently streaming against her face. She lifted her head to look at the night sky outside her window, a complex ray of light in her eyes.

Ye Wu Chen walked up behind her and stared at the young girl before the window. His appearance was so perfect that it might even enrage the human gods. His charming eyes were completely filled with emotions as though he could only accept one person in his gaze.

“Around a decade ago, my parents were murdered by the Saintess Sect one night. 300 people of the King Nan An Manor died, leaving me as the sole survivor. My father told me before he died that if I wanted to live on, I must disguise myself so that everyone wouldn’t pay attention to me. From then on, I played the role of a fool. Everyone agreed and said that my mentality stagnated since that night….”

That night had been a nightmare in his life. The initially blissful family turned to dust in an instant. He had been personally hidden by his father at that time, resulting in his lucky escape from that calamity.

Following that, due to him becoming a fool the Saintess Sect didn’t want to do too many bad deeds. As such, they didn’t cut the grass by its roots. Yet, how could the misdeeds done by the Saintess Sect be small? How many innocent people have died under the Saintess Sect?

“How did the Ghost King’s title come about? I have been really curious. Your scars really do look sinister, but it still wasn’t to the extent of being ghost-like?” Mu Ru Yue slowly turned around and raised her gaze to look at the handsome man before her as she asked.

The man smiled. His smile was so charming that it was similar to how a Devil’s Snare bewitches people’s heart.

“It was due to a maid that accidentally found out my secret. Because of that, I made her insane. Moreover, to make it so that there wouldn’t be any extra people in the King Manor, I purposefully made my subordinates release rumours that I had a ghost-like appearance. In addition to the crazed maid, no one was willing to enter Ghost King Manor from then on. It made it easier to carry out my moves.”

Mu Ru Yue raised her brows as she stated, “You have been pretending to be a fool for so many years due to the Saintess Sect? It’s laughable that I was actually kept in the dark for such a long time.”

  1. Wu Chen don’t be afraid, your future wifey is not going to ignore you. How can one ignore a handsome and talented man like you? Sigh….someone give me a Wu Chen….

    1. Honestly she should ignore him.

He lied to her and treated her as merely his plaything not opening his heart to her, as well as shamelessly deceiving her for his own benefit. How can it be said he loved her when he only “wanted” her. Whats the difference between what he did and some playboy sweet talking a girl with empty words? Sure he might not dump her after one night but he basically didn’t give her anything of value while shamelessly treating her as if she was his “thing”. He’s practically just as heartless as the so called shitty sect master of the whore-sect that attacked them, which is very ironic given how disturbing the entire description of the sect was.

Sadly I’m gonna stop reading this. While his “hero” act the past few chapters might look noble, it’s anything but. If anything it just shows that hiding things from her was completely pointless and only to his own benefit, and not to protect her in any way. She would have had much better security by knowing all that was happening behind the scenes; if it happened once how could it not happen again duh! How about letting your future wife know of such simple things such as the worst sect on the continent colluding with the imperial family which she’s been on anything but good terms with?

Given his personality if she rejected him, he would likely murder every other love interest she has, just as he has been beating them so far like he’s some mad dog from the shadows with out honor or dignity. He may even forcefully try to possess her and force himself onto her. If not for the story portraying him as the “knight in shining armor” or “the destined love interest” he would be the best antagonist of the entire story. But we’re clearly suppose be to read his part as “the hero,” so as much as I like the main Mu Ru Yue, I’d rather stop reading then hear more on “Ben Wang” accomplishments. (In large part because we only seem to hear about him, and his boring over the top maneuvers, over and over the past chapters anyway, and there’s apparently no end in sight.)

      1. wow you hate him so much that you wrote an essay? Hmm bye bye Felix~ Miki still will like to ask you to read on a little more as he really love her. It is your choice though~ *hugs*

      2. Why would you assume a man that secretly acts like the leader of an assassin group would be a ‘hero’? You’re just setting yourself up to dislike him right from the get go.
Oh boo hoo, he lied to her like he’s been lying to everyone to keep his life intact so he can get revenge for his family. Why should he instantly trust someone that he has little knowledge about? She’s pretty sly herself, and you don’t seem to hate her.
Where did he get portrayed as ‘the knight in shining armor’??? I saw a ‘willing to do anything to protect’ type. I love the characters like that. I don’t understand why ‘honor’ means you have to kill yourself just so people around you think better of you. I have no illusions about ‘black and white’. I’m 100% fine with someone who deals with problems with a knife in the dark.
You’re forgetting one important thing. Chinese wuxia/xianxia make the bad guys so terrible that you can’s really see them as anything other than bad guys. Even if the main character is classified as a bad guy, they usually aren’t the ‘harm innocents’ type. They’re the ‘I’m gonna screw up the rest of your life for messing with me’ type. That’s one of the things I enjoy while reading these.
While I have seen the wuxia stories go the ‘rape’ route, it’s really rare. If he went that way, i think even I would stop reading. But a main character who is a ‘bad guy though not as bad as the really bad guys’… Meh.

P.S. I don’t come back to check my posts, or have it notify my e-mail. So no point in ranting 🙂

  2. Haha he’s a worry wart. She already gave him her heart and saw that he gave up his disguise for her. How can she not still love him. In fact, I think she started to develope deeper feelings for him.
Thanks for the teaser and hopefully that problem will be fixed soon.

  3. Well, Wu Chen is following his dad’s wise words on how you treat your wife very faithfully. And going by the chapter title, she’ll be a little annoyed, but will patiently listen to the situation and love ensues?

  4. Funny how they dont mention the fact that he took advantage of pretending to be retarded in order to feel her up and bath with her among other things
Thats the thing he did thats dickish

  5. So, Elder Zhao is mopping up the Imperial Jerks. Wu Chen has finally outed himself as a big league player in the game of life and death. Mu Ru Yue is, quite reasonably, tired, annoyed at being conned, and [apparently] even more annoyed that he managed to con her – she didn’t see through it all even when he followed her to the Pill Assembly?! I can totally understand being thus frustrated.

As to Wu Chen: sure he’s lied – to everyone – in order to achieve his aims, including not being dead; he’s about as saintly as any other character in these novels, so yeah, he took advantage of her explicit trust in the feeble-minded boy. I can handle that, especially as she always had the option and ability to get him to keep his paws off her. I certainly don’t allow children and/or idiots to paw me, and I’m nothing like the badass she is.

    Thanks for the chapter.

  6. ._∧_∧__ THANKS FOR THE CHAPTER!!
